The Best ‘Roseanne’ Halloween Episodes

Halloween is one of the best times of the year!  A time for candy, costumes, horror movies, haunted houses and trick-or-treating. What’s not to love? It’s also that time of the year when some of your favorite TV characters dress up in costumes and create some of the funniest episodes of the season. Roseanne.

“BOO!” was the very first Halloween episode of Roseanne. Premiering Halloween night 1989, this was the episode that established the love of Halloween for the entire Conner family. As they turn their house into the “Tunnel of Terror”, Dan and Roseanne play prank after hilarious prank against one another.

“Trick or Treat”

The best part of “Trick or Treat” is without question, Roseanne pretending to be a man. On her way to the haunted house, her and Jackie have car problems and end up stopping at the Lobo. Roseanne is dressed up as a burly man, beard and all. As they wait for Dan, Roseanne starts to embrace her costume as she talks with some of the other guys in the bar. She even goes as far as to go inside the men’s restroom. As Roseanne is busy planning lumberjack, Dan and the kids are at a haunted house. Dan is dressed up as The Three Stooges, Becky is a mangled prom queen, Darlene has a creature popping out of her stomach and DJ is a witch. Luckily, Dan shows up to the bar just in time to stop some guy from beating Roseanne to a pulp. He plays along with Roseanne’s costume and tells the guy to get his hands off his husband.

“Trick Me Up, Trick Me Down”

Roseanne and Dan begin their Halloween celebration by pulling a prank on their uptight neighbor, Kathy. As she hears the screams coming from their house, she enters to find Dan lying on the kitchen table with his guts falling out. Roseanne then pops out from nowhere wearing a shirt splattered with blood and holding a large bloody butcher knife. She begins to walk slowly towards Kathy as she explains this isn’t the first husband this has happen to and she can’t let possibly allow Kathy to leave. Suddenly, Dan is standing right behind Kathy. She begins to scream and Dan yells happen Halloween. Needless to say, Kathy finds their little prank less than amusing. This was by far one of their best Halloween pranks ever. Throughout the rest of the episode, Roseanne is paranoid and is convinced Kathy is going to get her back. Meanwhile, Roseanne and Dan keep their costume a secret until the night of the Lodge party. Dan is dressed up as a dead guy and Roseanne is his dummy.

“Halloween IV”

Roseanne has lost her Halloween spirit and is visited by the ghosts of Halloween past, present and future. As her friends are at the Lodge party, Roseanne is first visited by the ghost of Halloween past. Here we get to see just how Roseanne’s love of Halloween came to be. She is then visited by the ghost of Halloween present. This is where Roseanne sees her friends having fun at the Lodge and oops, making fun of her. In the end, Roseanne regains her devilish spirit and shows up to the Lodge party at the last minute to play a prank on all her friends.
